The provincial government is providing $3 million to Mount Allison University to put towards construction of its new multi-sport complex.
The Scott McCain and Leslie McLean Centre for Health and Wellness is expected to open in 2030 and will serve the university’s 2,400 students as well as the residents of the Tantramar area.
The fully accessible, $30-million complex will feature a playing surface of about 26,000 square feet, a walking track, multiple court configurations and multi-purpose space.
“Mount Allison is grateful for the province of New Brunswick’s support for this important project,” said university president Ian Sutherland.
Sutherland said the multi-sport complex will serve as a dynamic, accessible space that supports varsity and recreational athletics, strengthens community connections, and serves the region for generations to come.
