SFS: Big Girls Don’t Cry

October 22 @ 7:30 pm – 10:00 pm

As a part of Sackville Film Society, join for a new film at the Amherst Theatre on October 22 at 7:30pm. This week’s movie is Big girls don’t cry by Paloma Schneideman:

Set during the summer of 2006 in rural New Zealand, Big Girls Don’t Cry follows 14-year-old Sid, an insecure teenager desperate to fit in with an older group of girls. As she experiments with different identities, friendships, sexuality, and the early internet, Sid becomes increasingly caught between her desire for acceptance and her growing understanding of herself. Her fascination with an older girl adds further emotional complexity to a summer marked by curiosity, rebellion, longing, and painful discoveries. Paloma Schneideman’s debut is a raw coming-of-age story about queer adolescence and the difficult transition into adulthood.
