DESCRIPTION:Mount Allison University will mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day with events focused on Indigenous culture\, learning\, reflection and reconciliation. \n\n\n\n\nSept. 29\, 11 a.m. : Every Child Matters flag raising outside Owens Art Gallery.\n\n\n\nSept. 30 : University closed; everyone is welcome to attend campus events.\n\n11 a.m.–12 p.m. :  Community Talk & Cultural Teaching with Mi’kmaq knowledge keepers Junior Peter-Paul and Nicole Porter.\n\n\n\n1–3 p.m. : I AM GITXSAN film screening\, followed by Q&A and discussion.\n\n\n\nLunch: Jennings Dining Hall\, $12.18 + tax.\n\n\n\n\n\nOct. 1\, 1 p.m. : KAIROS Blanket Exercise at Tweedie Hall; RSVP to indigenous@mta.ca.\n\n\n\n\nThe day honours Residential School Survivors\, their families and communities\, recognizes the lasting impacts of residential schools\, and highlights the importance of Truth and Reconciliation. \n\n\n\nOct. 1 also begins Mi’kmaw History Month\, offering further opportunities to learn about Mi’kmaw history\, culture and knowledge.
