U-S officials say a truck carrying supplies for New Brunswick\u2019s isolated Campobello Island was held up at the border because its cargo including one-thousand bottles of alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The only land route to the island involves an 80\u2013kilometre drive through U-S territory to a bridge in Lubec, Maine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The truck, which was also carrying mail, milk and spirits, was denied entry to the U-S on Tuesday, the same day American import bans on Canadian alcohol took effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
U-S Customs and Border Protection says Canadian booze is no longer allowed to transit through the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Members of a Nova Scotia First Nation have reached a class action settlement after allegedly undergoing M-R-I scans without their consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The law firm pursuing the case against two Halifax doctors says the settlement is still subject to court approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2020 lawsuit claimed the doctors took scans of 60 members of the Pictou Landing First Nation who thought they were participating in a 2017 research project.
The lawsuit said they were also subjected to \u201csecret\u201d scans of their livers for a project they weren’t told about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A judge ended the case yesterday in Dartmouth after Crown lawyers said they would not present any evidence, adding that they believed there was no reasonable prospect for conviction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Smith had been scheduled for a three-day trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The actor had pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual assault stemming from an alleged incident in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Stolen-Golf-Carts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The R-C-M-P in northern New Brunswick are asking for the public\u2019s help as they investigate the recent theft of five golf carts from a business in Campbellton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police believe the carts were stolen between 11 p-m on September 11th and 12:30 a-m the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The carts are described as green Club Car models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anonymous tips can be called in through the toll-free Crime Stoppers line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Memorial University\u2019s annual report to the Newfoundland and Labrador government shows more women are enrolling than men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The school\u2019s report on its 2025-26 fiscal year says nearly seven-thousand-200 women enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs that year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s compared with nearly five-thousand-480 men — a difference of about 27 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, the university’s faculty skews male, with 746 men compared with 647 women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local army, navy and air force cadet leaders will join the province\u2019s minister responsible for military relations for a celebration at the provincial legislature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other events will be held in Truro and Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The legislature event will include a flag raising and a reading of the Sea, Army, Air and Navy League Cadets Day Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are 75 cadet units in Nova Scotia with about three-thousand cadets enrolled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
