New Brunswick’s biggest ocean port is getting millions of dollars in funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transport Canada says up to 254-million dollars will be spent on a series of infrastructure improvements aimed at unlocking Port Saint John’s potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon said yesterday these kinds of investments make it easier to move goods across Canada to international markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Wildfire-Season)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wildfires in Newfoundland and Labrador burned more than 960 square kilometres of forest this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government says the majority of the burned area was in Labrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It says there were 133 wildfires in total, with 81 caused by humans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Charlottetown Police Services says it will fully co-operate with an independent review of its investigation of an unsolved murder from 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P-E-I’s justice minister ordered a review of the investigation into the strangling and stabbing death of 36-year-old teacher Byron Carr after the charges in the case were dropped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Crown prosecutors dropped the charges after Charlottetown police lost crucial evidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-C-M-P in Nova Scotia are asking the public to share video footage after a fatal collision involving a car being pursued by police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties are asking for surveillance or dashcam footage of a grey Honda Civic that went off the road in Grand Pr\u00e9 on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One occupant died and four others were injured and taken to hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A police vehicle had been pursuing the car and was also involved in a single-vehicle crash minutes earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Wozney’s post said that Nova Scotia should \u2014 quote \u2014 learn from France and shut government down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The remarks were in relation to a proposed 470-million-dollar government settlement with employees impacted by wage restriction legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Party Leader Claudia Chender says the post was a serious error in judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Wind-Vs-Fish)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Maritimes Fishermen\u2019s Union is calling on Ottawa to explain how it will protect fisheries as Nova Scotia pursues offshore wind development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last week, the federal government announced 100-million dollars to help study wind and sea conditions around the Wind West energy project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The union wants to see independent comparisons of offshore wind with onshore wind farms as well as hydroelectricity from Quebec and Labrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
