Open Sky Cooperative has found a new Executive Director. The non-profit announced Wednesday that Laura Hunter would take over heading up the non-profit organization this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current director Margaret Tusz-King announced her resignation in January<\/a>. Tusz-King founded Open Sky 10 years ago and said she felt it was time for someone new to bring \u201cgreat new strengths to [the] organization.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s Tusz-King speaking to CHMA\u2019s Meg Cunningham back in January:

\u201cEverybody\u2019s joking about my handing over my baby to other people. I mean, it\u2019s kind of like that I\u2019ve been here so long. But really, we have so many good people who work at Open Sky, so many great board members. We have a lot of people in other partnerships of other organizations and levels of government that understand Open Sky\u2019s work. So I have great confidence that it has the strength to continue on very well without me, and I have the humility to know that there\u2019s a lot of other good people out there that can bring great new strengths to this organization. So I feel very optimistic about the future of Open Sky.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incoming Executive director Laura Hunter has a \u201crich history\u201d with Open Sky, says board chair Helen Douglass in a post on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Douglas says Hunter, \u201cwas an initial member of Open Sky, a Board member and had lived in residence at the farm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c[Hunter\u2019s] core values reflect those of Open Sky perfectly,\u201d writes Douglas, \u201cthose of inclusion, equity, and generosity of spirit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hunter is a Diaconal Minister in the United Church of Canada, \u201cwho has served social justice ministries throughout Atlantic Canada for 14 years,\u201d says Douglas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hunter is due to start in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
