One more person has died with COVID-19 in New Brunswick. Public Health announced yesterday that a person in their 30\u2019s in Edmundston has died as a result of COVID-19. That\u2019s the youngest person to pass away in New Brunswick with COVID-19. Last month, a person in their 40\u2019s passed away in Zone 1 from underlying complications including COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a release, Chief Medical Officer of Health Jennifer Russell said, \u201cThis death is a sad reminder that COVID-19 does not discriminate, and that we must all continue to do everything we can to keep one another safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 14 new cases of COVID-19 reported Wednesday in the province. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two cases were in Zone 1, one travel-related and the other under investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was one case in Zone 3, the Fredericton region, also travel-related.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The remaining 11 cases were all in Zone 4, the Edmundston region, in people ranging in age from under 19 to over 80.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight of those cases are under investigation and three are contacts of a previously confirmed case. Seven of the cases are related to an outbreak at a special care home in Edmundston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 people are in hospital, with 12 in ICU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 914 tests conducted in the province on Wednesday, with 365 of those in Zone 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VACCINATIONS UPDATE: SACKVILLIANS 55 AND OLDER NOW ELIGIBLE<\/strong> AT CORNER DRUG<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The province has announced a new age group is eligible to register for vaccinations with either a pharmacy or a health authority clinic. Anyone 70 or over can now call or register online. Scroll below for links and contact numbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Sackville, anyone 55 or over is eligible to register for a vaccine through the Corner Drug Store. The pharmacy will receive 500 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine this week, and is asking those 55 or over to register on their website as a first step to getting an appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pharmacist-owner Charles Beaver says the pharmacy already has over 300 people registered on their website who now qualify for the AstraZeneca shot. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
