In an email to students on Wednesday, Mount Allison vice presidents Anne Comfort and Robert Inglis confirmed that travel to and from Sackville in order to attend university is allowed, and so students will be permitted to travel home for the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. Dianne Keeping has been chief librarian since August 2019. On Tuesday, Memorial University announced that Keeping has been appointed the dean of Memorial University Libraries for a five-year term beginning in January. While at Mount A, Keeping has been working on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/planning-for-something-important-and-significant-work-continues-on-the-remaking-of-the-rp-bell-library\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">project aiming to renovate and revitalize the Ralph Pickard Bell library<\/a>. It\u2019s not clear yet how Keeping\u2019s departure will affect the ongoing project, which began in 2017, before she arrived. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID-19 update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-6-COVID-update.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"720\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-6-COVID-update.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17208\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-6-COVID-update.png 960w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-6-COVID-update-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-6-COVID-update-768x576.png 768w\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another person has died in Zone 1 due to COVID-19, bringing the provincial death toll to 70. There are 51 people in hospital due to the virus, with 25 in an intensive care unit. Of those in hospital, 41 are unvaccinated, two are partially vaccinated and eight are fully vaccinated. Public Health reported 71 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. 50 of those cases, about 70 per cent, are in people who are unvaccinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corner Drug Store taking walk-in appointments for Pfizer vaccine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Corner Drug Store in Sackville has walk-in appointments available for the Pfizer vaccine at the following times: Thursday, 10am-6pm; Friday 4:30-6:30pm; and Saturday 10am-1pm. A message from the group points out that everyone attending will be double vaccinated, and the renovated Mel\u2019s has lots of room to spread out. Townes just released a new album called \u2018In Frames\u2019, and is \u201cthrilled\u201d to be back on the road, playing for live audiences. The show is happening Friday at 8pm at Mel\u2019s Tearoom. Here&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/adyntownesmusic\/videos\/375771490695703\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Townes playing a song off his new album<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning how nature can help us adapt to climate change<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Chignecto Climate Change Collaborative is hosting a series of virtual workshops looking at how nature can help people adapt to climate change. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/392428145755825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">first virtual workshop takes place next Wednesday<\/a> and is billed as an introduction to natural infrastructure. Vincent Lambert-Song of the New Brunswick Environmental Network will teach general principles of nature-based infrastructure, and other applications of phyto-technologies, such as mining and water treatment.
