That means Sackvillians will be living with another week of single household bubbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Russell also announced that people 65 and over will be eligible for booster shots once six months has passed since their second shot. There\u2019s more details on the news conference in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/circuit-breaker-extended-more-booster-shots-coming-and-community-spread-is-happening\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">our web story here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Council to consider contribution to health care recruitment fund<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At their meeting this coming Monday, Sackville town council will consider whether to back a plan by a local group to engage in health care worker recruitment for the Sackville area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a public meeting on September 20th, council heard the plan as presented by former mayor and current member of the Rural Health Action Group, John Higham. At the time, Higham asked for a contribution from the town, in the range of $5000 to $15,000, to help seed a fund that would be managed by the Sackville hospital foundation, a charitable organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When town staff presented their proposed budget to council earlier this month, it included $10,000 to go towards the fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hear more about Hingham\u2019s proposal on Tantramar Report, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/sackville-considers-funding-health-care-recruitment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in a web story here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">COVID update<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-28-gnb-stats.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-28-gnb-stats.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17684\" width=\"-239\" height=\"-179\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-28-gnb-stats.png 960w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-28-gnb-stats-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Oct-28-gnb-stats-768x576.png 768w\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The province announced another 69 new cases of COVID-19 in the province yesterday, with 23 of those in Zone 1. Of the Zone 1 cases, 18 are under investigation and five are related to travel. There are now 216 active cases in Zone 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Across the border, the Cumberland Health Network reported three new cases yesterday, and have an active case total of 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Climate Change Week Committee call for volunteers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local non-profit EOS Eco-Energy is looking for volunteers for their annual Climate Change Week Committee. This committee will meet on a regular basis to brainstorm and plan events for the 10th annual Climate Change Week, which will take place in February of 2022. Get in touch with EOS Eco Energy at 536-4487 to sign up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Upcoming events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Atlantic Wildlife Institute is hosting a <strong>spooky woods walk<\/strong> for this year\u2019s Halloween season. On Friday, October 29th from 6pm to 9pm, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/308048087347813\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">AWI is inviting those who dare <\/a>to take a short walk through its haunted woods, promising ghouls, witches, and \u201cwho knows what else\u201d. Admission is by donation and all proceeds will go towards AWI\u2019s wildlife care program. Masks and proof of vaccination are required. AWI says bring a flashlight, and dress for the weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another Halloween event, this time planned for the older crowd, is happening Friday as well. The Vogue Cinema is presenting the <strong>Rocky Horror Picture Show<\/strong>, a Halloween tradition, a 10pm on Friday. Tickets must be purchased online at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.voguecinema.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vogue Cinema website<\/a>, and participants must have proof of vaccination, and wear a mask.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also on Friday, the Mount Allison women\u2019s hockey team will take on St. FX in a regular season game at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre. The game starts at 7:15pm. The women\u2019s hockey team recently turned around a losing streak with a win over Saint Mary\u2019s University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The musical comedy <a href=\"https:\/\/mta.ca\/current-students\/drama-studies-program\/motyer-fancy-theatre\/motyer-fancy-theatre-current-season\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>A Gentleman&#8217;s Guide to Love and Murder<\/strong><\/a> is playing at the Motyer-Fancy Theatre in the Purdy Arts Centre this Friday and Saturday.
