{"id":43158,"date":"2024-05-13T13:19:58","date_gmt":"2024-05-13T16:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/?p=43158"},"modified":"2024-05-13T13:22:14","modified_gmt":"2024-05-13T16:22:14","slug":"murphy-remains-in-custody-until-june-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/murphy-remains-in-custody-until-june-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Murphy remains in custody until June 10"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">22-year-old Tyler Murphy was in Moncton provincial court on Monday for a brief appearance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Murphy is charged with manslaughter in the death of 44-year-old father of four, Shawn Mitton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police found Mitton on the evening of March 16, laying on the side of Lorne Street in Sackville, suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was then transported to hospital where he died as a result of his injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Murphy and his brother Dylan were arrested shortly thereafter, and originally charged with second degree murder.  Those charges were later withdrawn, and a single charge of manslaughter against Tyler Murphy was laid by the crown on March 27. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Monday, Murphy\u2019s lawyer Pierette Allain asked the judge for an adjournment while Murphy waits for a second round of disclosure expected from the crown prosecutor\u2019s office.\u00a0Allain said her client had received some evidence from the prosecution, but was told by crown lawyer Denis Sawyer to expect a second wave of disclosure.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Judge Luc Labont\u00e9 adjourned the matter until June 10, when he said the court would set a date for a preliminary hearing in the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tyler Murphy will remain in custody and be back in court on June 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>22-year-old Tyler Murphy was in Moncton provincial court on Monday for a brief appearance.&nbsp; Murphy is charged with manslaughter in the death of 44-year-old father of four, Shawn Mitton.
