The price tag \u2014 335-thousand dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city is contributing about a third of the total cost, while the province and the Greater Saint John Regional Facilities Commission will put up the rest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials say the modern upgrades will include new swim blocks, pool-area filters as well as deck and railing replacements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-C-M-P say a 22-year-old man has died in New Brunswick following a two-vehicle crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say officers responded to a report of a collision between an S-U-V and an all-terrain vehicle on Sunday night on Highway 11 in Bathurst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say they believe the collision happened when the all-terrain vehicle, travelling the wrong direction, hit the S-U-V head-on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the driver and only occupant of the all-terrain vehicle died at the scene because of his injuries, while the person driving the S-U-V was uninjured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Soccer-Travels)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A soccer ball has survived a roughly three-thousand-kilometre journey in the ocean from Nunavut’s Baffin Island to the coast of Newfoundland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lee Croucher says he had been unloading after a day of lobster fishing last month when he saw the ball in between rocks on the shore of Beaumont and decided to get it for his kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He says “Ulaajuk school” was written on the ball and after some Googling, found out that that’s all the way in Pond Inlet, Nunavut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His daughters are now keeping the ball safe at their home in Robert’s Arm, Newfoundland. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia’s auditor general says training and prevention measures have failed to keep up with a sharp rise in violence in provincial schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kim Adair’s newest report says teachers and administrators are unprepared to deal with the concerning trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The report found a 60 per cent increase in reported incidents of school violence since 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Adair says the rate of violence may in fact be higher, but the province’s statistics lack accuracy because of poor data collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Atlantic-Labour-Cuts)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland and Labrador\u2019s Immigration Minister says the federal budget axed funding to workplace development programs supporting people with disabilities, Indigenous Peoples, women and newcomers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A news release says ministers from across Atlantic Canada are demanding Ottawa reverse the 625-million-dollar cut to labour market transfer agreements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministers say the cuts come at a time when high inflation is putting more strain on workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say provinces weren\u2019t given a heads-up about the cuts until they were announced in April in the federal budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Halifax-Cogswell-Project)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nova Scotia government and Halifax Regional Municipality are putting a combined five million dollars towards the demolition and remediation work of a downtown Halifax project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both levels of government are putting 2.5 million dollars towards the Cogswell District project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The money will go towards the removal of the interchange bridge and two retaining walls and to remediate contaminated soil for the eventual building of street infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The redevelopment of the Cogswell Interchange is expected to have capacity for more than 34-hundred housing units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Coastal-Erosion)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The University of Prince Edward Island’s climate lab says it has a new tool to help people visualize coastal erosion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The university says it has an updated version of a video game that allows people to fly over P-E-I, raise and lower sea levels, and click on-and-off coastal erosion rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It says the game combines available coastal survey data, historical records, and predictive climate change models, allowing people to explore past changes and what the future looks like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2014, the video game won a prize from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for communicating coastal risk and resilience, and it also won the 2014 Murray Pinchuk Community Builder Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Cultural-Exchange)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Delegates from partner organizations of Veterinarians Without Borders-Canada, hailing from Kenya, Ghana, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia spent a week on P-E-I where they learned about agricultural management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During their visit from April 28th to May 3rd, the group visited a sheep and dairy farm where they learned about flock health and diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group also toured the Great Canadian Soap Company and goat farm in Brackley, where they learned about transforming goat milk into soap and other personal care products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tour finished with a visit to the U-P-E-I Canadian Centre for Climate Change where they learned about agricultural adaptation to global warming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
