New Brunswick\u2019s francophone health authority is warning residents of possible exposures to whooping cough at two of the province\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Vitalit\u00e9 Health Network says emergency department patients at the Grand Falls General Hospital may have been exposed on June 10th between 7:25 p-m and 9 p-m, and between June 19th at 11:56 p-m to 1:15 a-m the following morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, emergency department patients at the Edmundston Regional Hospital may have been exposed between June 15th at 7:40 p-m and June 16th at 12:10 a-m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They may also have been exposed between 12:40 p-m and 8:40 p-m on June 18th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The health authority says patients and health-care workers who may have been exposed should monitor for symptoms for up to 21 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Hepatitis-A-Amherst)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia’s public health agency has confirmed a case of hepatitis A in the Amherst area, and the agency has issued a warning to those who may have been exposed to the virus — though the risk to the public is low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health officials are reaching out to anyone who ate or drank food at the Tim Hortons location on South Albion Street between May 30th and June 14th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those people are being asked to see a primary care provider if they develop a sudden onset of fever, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort and darkening of the urine and yellowing of the skin or eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These symptoms could develop over the next four weeks, and most people recover without treatment — but in some cases, the infection can cause serious liver damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Organigram-Sanity-Group)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moncton-based pot producer Organigram Holdings has taken a minority stake in European cannabis company Sanity Group through a 21-million dollar investment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Brunswick company says it may eventually advance another 4.5-million dollars to Sanity through an unsecured convertible note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investment is meant to help Organigram capitalize on Germany’s recent move to legalize cannabis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The arrangement could also see the companies deepen their presence in Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Sewage-Risk)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health officials in P-E-I are asking anyone who may have been swimming off the coast in Victoria and who is now experiencing rashes, vomiting or diarrhea to see a doctor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Island\u2019s Health Department says there is a remote chance the coastal waters in the area were contaminated with sewage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials were told yesterday about a problem with the wastewater disposal system in Victoria that may have released sewage into the coastal water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say it\u2019s unlikely and that the risk of sewage entering the coastal water is very low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Airsoft-Guns)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in Nova Scotia say they have determined that two people spotted yesterday in the Elmsdale area wearing tactical gear and possibly carrying firearms were actually two youths with air rifles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P in East Hants, north of Halifax, say the pair were spotted Sunday night walking towards a school on McMillan Drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The R-C-M-P’s emergency response team and police dog services were called in, but the suspects were nowhere to be found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties say they later determined the youths were going to play with Airsoft guns, but quickly returned home when they realized their behaviour would be seen as suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Hepatitis-C)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P-E-I’s public health office is investigating a lapse in infection prevention at a podiatry clinic in Charlottetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health officials say clients of of Johnson Podiatry may have undergone procedures in which equipment was improperly cleaned or re-used between January 1st, 2022 to April 8th, 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the problems have been corrected and the risk to the public remains low, but these lapses could have exposed clients to hepatitis C, hepatitis B and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, known as H-I-V. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The office says the risk is very low, but because individuals can have these infections and not have any symptoms, testing is recommended for these three infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Halifax-Lost-Bikes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in Halifax have recovered about 40 bicycles and scooters that they believe were recently stolen from across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Halifax Regional Police say the bikes were found this past weekend at a location on Barrington Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police also recovered numerous parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators are now trying to locate the owners, saying anyone having recently lost a bike or scooter should call the Halifax Regional Police lost-and-found department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
