Police in Shediac, New Brunswick are looking for help identifying two people who were in the area when a business building exploded after being set on fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties say the fire was intentionally set at the Main Street business in the early morning hours of June 25th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They’re released photos of two people via the R-C-M-P website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police in southern New Brunswick are investigating after two bodies were found at a home in Rothesay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the bodies of a man and woman were found late yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kennebecasis Regional Police say the deaths are being investigated as suspicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition parties in Nova Scotia are saying the newly announced Nova Scotia Loyal program is not enough to help those struggling with food insecurity put food on the table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Churchill says the six-million dollar provincial investment would have been better spent at food banks, which are in high demand province-wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nova Scotia Loyal program announced yesterday will offer additional reward points at Sobeys and the N-S-L-C to start, a new procurement policy to bolster local businesses, as well as added branding to denote local products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The B-C couple whose remains recently washed ashore on Nova Scotia’s remote Sable Island have been identified by a family member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sister of 70-year-old James Brett Clibbery confirmed her brother’s identity, along with that of his 54-year-old wife, Sarah Packwood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lynda Spielman says she’s heard many theories about what happened to the couple after June 11th when they left Halifax harbour in a 13-metre sailboat en route to the Azores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Monday, the R-C-M-P confirmed they had identified Clibbery’s body with the help of the province’s medical examiner’s office, but they declined to release his name, citing privacy legislation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says safety concerns kept him from participating in this year’s Halifax Pride parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houston says he was advised by the R-C-M-P not to take part “out of an abundance of caution,” and the decision to skip the event doesn’t diminish his support for the L-G-B-T-Q-Plus community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P confirmed that police provided Houston’s office with advice based on recent international events and local disruptions like protests, though the decision whether to attend was up to the premier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nova Scotia government is providing some funding to assist the communities of Truro and Bible Hill face climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In Truro, the Department of Municipal Affairs is pledging to complete a high-priority repair to the Lepper Brook dam and reservoir, including the spillway chute structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department says the 1.4-million dollar project will help prevent dam failure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Village of Bible Hill is getting a new, bigger diesel generator to replace the one currently used for emergency backup power, with the total cost of this project being just under 250-thousand dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Oyster-Parasite)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The discovery of a parasite in some parts of Prince Edward Island’s oysters has caused worry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The executive director of the P-E-I Aquaculture Alliance says oyster growers have not seen significant mortalities but it is an evolving situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter Warris says people are “taking a bit of a pause” and waiting to see the results from the testing, to see how far the parasite has spread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says several other sites are considered “under suspicion” of having the parasite and have been placed under quarantine as investigation continues to confirm whether it is present, including one in Malpeque Bay on the province’s north shore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual Jigs and Wheels festival is scheduled to begin Friday in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glenda Simms, the tourism coordinator with the city, says things kick off with their Blame it on Broadway event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She says the Broadway area of the city will be blocked off and they will have street bars set up, food trucks, axe throwing, and live music from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
