The New Brunswick Liberals have nominated the regional director of the Atlantic Lottery Corporation to run in the Riverview district in the upcoming provincial election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A news release says Scott Grant has lived in Riverview for his entire life, and he has worked with the Atlantic Lottery Corporation for more than three decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Riverview is held by Health Minister Bruce Fitch, who says he won\u2019t be running again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-C-M-P in Nova Scotia are asking the for public’s help in their search for a man wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say 35-year-old William Landry of New Brunswick faces charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police and mischief over five-thousand dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police describe him as being five-foot-seven and weighing about 210 pounds, with dark brown hair and tattoos on his neck. (The Canadian Press)

New Brunswick’s health minister says the province is the first in Canada to allow its residents to create a summary of their own medical information and decide who to share it with. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bruce Fitch says patients can now use the My-Health-N-B app to create a summary and share it with health professionals who don’t have access to the province’s electronic health record system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fitch says the goal is to give patients more control over their own health-care information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For example, New Brunswickers who might need medical care while travelling out-of-province can have access to their health-care information, including immunizations, and recent lab and medical imaging tests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Cda-Premiers-Natural-Disasters)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A climate expert in Canada says climate change is irreversible and extreme heat events could get worse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blair Feltmate with the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation says all levels of government need to treat escalating climate change-related natural disasters as urgent crises and quickly enact mitigation strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Just last week, Canada’s premiers met in Halifax and discussed the importance of having emergency preparedness for natural disasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This summer has so far included multiple flash floods, including one this month in Nova Scotia that killed a 13-year-old boy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Oyster-Parasite)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says a parasite affecting oysters has been confirmed in a few more places on Prince Edward Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A news release says the parasite — multinuclear sphere X or M-S-X — has been found in areas between Lennox Island and Freeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency had said earlier this week that several sites were suspected of having the parasite, including a location on Malpeque Bay on the province’s north shore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The parasite was confirmed in Bedeque Bay earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
M-S-X affects the growth of oysters and increases mortality, but there is no human health risk. (The Canadian Press)

Nova Scotia Health staff are calling people on a lengthy waiting list for family medicine to confirm the status of their requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health minister says is a push to “validate” the figure of 160-thousand people awaiting a family doctor or nurse practitioner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the opposition parties said they are concerned that the province is eager to have the list trimmed down as it has become embarrassing to Premier Tim Houston, who campaigned on the health issue in the last election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Premier-Skips-Pride)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston says he didn’t attend this year’s Halifax Pride parade because police feared he’d be a “lightning rod” for protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He told reporters yesterday that some in the crowd might have become upset if the parade had been stopped because of his presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He didn’t specify which protesters may have halted the parade but noted that other parades in Canada have been interrupted by demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houston says his decision to skip the event doesn’t diminish his support for the L-G-B-T-Q+ community, but he says it would have been irresponsible to attend if his presence added “danger to the public.” (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
