New Brunswick’s Liberal party is promising to improve how the province supports seniors if elected on October 21st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liberal Leader Susan Holt was campaigning in Neguac this morning when she announced eight proposed measures including a plan to offer 250 dollars a month to unpaid and informal caregivers looking after aging family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holt says a Liberal government would also improve home-care by investing in the wages for personal support workers and resident attendants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As well, the Liberal plan calls for ensuring that all nursing home beds are used by filling staffing gaps, improving wages and increasing hours of care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Atlantic-Accords-Changes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A federal bill that extends energy agreements between Canada and two Atlantic provinces to include renewable energy is closer to becoming law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill C-49 widens the Atlantic accords between Ottawa and Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador to include rules for managing renewables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It passed a third reading yesterday in the Senate and is awaiting royal assent, which is the final step in the process of a bill becoming Canadian law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federal Conservative Party had opposed the bill because they believed it would slow approvals and give politicians power to kill offshore oil drilling in protected areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Sudden-Death)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in Saint John, New Brunswick are investigating a sudden death after discovering a body at an encampment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say emergency crews responded yesterday to a report of a body near the intersection of Courtenay Bay Causeway and Crown Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the person was confirmed dead at the scene and was then transported to hospital where an autopsy is scheduled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say they do not believe the death was criminal in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Pre-Budget-Consultations)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The P-E-I government is asking residents to take part in the province’s annual pre-budget consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released today, the government says residents can submit their ideas through email or an online survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They can also register for a virtual consultation that could include giving a five-minute presentation to Finance Minister Jill Burridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The deadline for submissions is November 15th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The federal government officially opened a NATO research centre in Halifax today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Defence Department announced last year that Ottawa would spend 26.6 million dollars over six years to establish an innovation hub for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research hub is officially called the Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government says experts at the centre have a mandate to find new solutions to boost the capabilities of Canada and its NATO Allies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition is opening in conjunction with Smith’s forthcoming movie of the same name and music album “Longhauler.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
