The people of northern Labrador are being urged to complain directly to the federal government about “inhumane” food prices in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Nunavut M-P made the comments saying people should complain about how a federal subsidy program to reduce food prices in remote Indigenous communities is not meeting its goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On social media, the local Northern Store is charging close to eight-dollars for cabbage and over 21-dollars for a 1.42-litre bottle of Crisco cooking oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A food security programs manager with the Inuit Nunatsiavut Government in northern Labrador says a subsidy adjustment is needed now to bring down food prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Close to 150 future physicians and nurse practitioners who have committed to working in New Brunswick once qualified are set to be awarded over 1.1-million dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Brunswick Medical Education Foundation says the money will be given in the form of a scholarship to go towards tuition relief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also known as Doctors for N-B, the registered charity says it’s committed to recruiting and retaining future physicians, specialists and nurse practitioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The recipients will be awarded at a gala on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A team from Nova Scotia Power is heading to Florida to assist in power restoration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A spokeswoman for the utility said yesterday that 35 people from the company were in South Carolina yesterday and travelling to Tampa to start storm response once they get the all-clear that it\u2019s safe to move in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The majority are power line technicians, and there are also support staff including logistics experts and mechanics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The response teams will carry out the same sort of work in Florida as they do in Nova Scotia following a storm, working to restore power and make any necessary repairs.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R-C-M-P say 30-year-old \u00c9lora Patoine was last seen on Albert Street in Moncton, New Brunswick on June 19th, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Patoine was last seen wearing a brown faux leather jacket, black pants and had a school bag with her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties describe her as five-feet 10 inches tall, about 140 pounds with curly brown hair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia\u2019s Souls Harbour Rescue Mission says it plans to serve free Thanksgiving meals across the province today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mission says it will serve 550 turkey dinners at its locations in Lower Sackville, Bridgewater, Truro and Sydney Mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Today\u2019s meals will be available between noon and 2 p-m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
