{"id":52413,"date":"2024-10-23T07:20:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T10:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/?p=52413"},"modified":"2024-10-29T15:03:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T18:03:58","slug":"recruitment-for-a-new-director-of-protective-services-didnt-work-will-be-reposted-soon-says-cao","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/recruitment-for-a-new-director-of-protective-services-didnt-work-will-be-reposted-soon-says-cao\/","title":{"rendered":"Recruitment for a new Director of Protective Services didn&#8217;t work, will be reposted soon, says CAO"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A contracted recruitment process for Tantramar\u2019s first <a href=\"https:\/\/umnb.ca\/employment-opportunity-tantramar-in-search-of-director-of-protective-services\/\">Director of Protective Services<\/a> this past spring was unsuccessful, and the position remains vacant, says Tantramar CAO Jennifer Borne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The municipality hired consultants Municipal Human Resources in March at a cost of $15,000 to help fill the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borne says via email that approximately 30 applications were received and the recruiter narrowed the pool down to four final candidates. But then, writes Borne, \u201cafter a rigorous application process including multiple interviews with candidates,\u201d no one was hired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borne says it\u2019s not unusual for a recruiting process to be unsuccessful. \u201cOverall, I am pleased with the process and I want to ensure the commitment to hiring the best and most suitable candidate to fill this new position on the Senior Leadership Team,\u201d writes Borne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Director of Protective Services is a new post-amalgamation position, and will oversee fire services, police services, by-law enforcement, emergency measures, and animal control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s one of two senior leadership positions currently vacant with Tantramar. The other, Director of Community and Corporate Services, has been vacant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/miller-leaves-tantramar-for-new-opportunity\/\">since Kieran Miller left in August<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Director positions earn in the range of $93,676 TO $124,901, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/sackville.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Salary-Scales-Managers-and-others-2024.pdf\">municipality\u2019s salary scales<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Borne says the municipality will be &#8220;going out to the marketplace in the coming months for both positions.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>UPDATE: <\/em><\/strong><em>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sackville.com\/tos_careers\/director-of-community-and-corporate-services\/\">posting for Director of Community and Corporate Services<\/a> went live after this story was published. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Currently seeking active living manager and heavy equipment operator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are currently two other active job postings with the municipality. A post for a heavy equipment operator closes on November 1, and one for a Manager of Active Living and Culture closes on November 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The manager position falls under the supervision of Matt Pryde, director of Active Living and Culture, and Borne says it is a new position created after \u201can extensive gap analysis\u201d. The new position appears to replace the vacant Manager of Parks and Recreation Facilities, a post previously held by Todd Cole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The position pays $65,510 TO $87,347 per year, and includes duties such as managing municipal recreational programs, events, and activities, and managing and maintaining all municipal parks, trails, sports fields, green spaces, and the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A contracted recruitment process for Tantramar\u2019s first Director of Protective Services this past spring was unsuccessful, and the position remains vacant, says Tantramar CAO Jennifer Borne.
