The Liberal government officially took power on Sunday and Holt became the first woman to serve as premier in the province’s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the new cabinet include Finance Minister and Deputy Premier Ren\u00e9 Legacy, Health Minister John Dornan, Education Minister Claire Johnson and Justice Minister Rob McKee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia’s Liberals have released a four-year, 2.3 billion dollar platform ahead of the November 26th election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 31-page document released today promises 80-thousand new homes by 2032 to help alleviate the province\u2019s housing shortage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is also a pledge to replace the federal carbon price with an Atlantic region cap-and-trade model for large industrial greenhouse gas emitters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Liberal Leader Zach Churchill says to implement the plan, his party would run budget deficits in the first three years if elected, with a surplus planned for the fourth year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Vehicle-Fatality)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say a 28-year-old man from Nova Scotia was killed in a single-vehicle crash in New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say officers responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Highway 11, in Pointe des Robichaud, around 1 a-m yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say they believe the crash happened when the vehicle was going south, crossed the centre line and hit two power poles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say three people were ejected from the vehicle, where one man died at the scene and another two men were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Two-Tornadoes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An Ontario-based research group says two tornadoes touched down in central New Brunswick on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dave Sills, executive director of Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project, tells C-B-C that the tornadoes appeared in the Harvey and Sheffield areas around 5 p-m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sills says it’s rare for the province to record a tornado so late in the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Both tornadoes were rated at EF-0, which means they were at the weakest level with wind speeds reaching between 90 and 130 kilometres per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Anti-Racism-Grant)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P-E-I’s government says applications are open for the 2024-2025 round of its anti-racism grants, with a total of 275-thousand-dollars available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That’s up from 100-thousand dollars in the last round of funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province says the grants are designed to help promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, and address racism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Groups eligible for funding include Indigenous governments, non-profit organizations, and municipalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guilbeault green-lit Equinor\u2019s stalled Bay du Nord oil project off the coast of Newfoundland with a condition that it achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oil and gas production makes up about 31 per cent of Canada’s total emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
