A Cape Breton area councillor will be randomly drawn following an election tie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tomorrow a district in northern Cape Breton will know its councillor– either Amy MacKinnon and Wanda Hennick– who both received 145 votes in the municipal election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Drawing a name to determine the winner is required by the Nova Scotia Municipal Elections Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The municipality\u2019s returning officer says she isn\u2019t happy with how the tie has been handled, noting some electors feel that their votes don’t count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Blair Gallop says she would prefer if the tiebreak was determined by a byelection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of the biggest potato processors in New Brunswick are being accused of price-fixing in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McCain Foods Limited and Cavendish Farms have been named in class-action lawsuits filed on behalf of retailers on November 15th and on behalf of consumers on November 17th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The consumer case alleges the companies share pricing and other sensitive information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the retailer case, one U-S supermarket chain alleges that from 2021 to the present, the companies implemented a “series of lockstep price increases that allowed them to realize unprecedented (profits).”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Fatal-Crash)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P say a 74-year-old man is dead after a single vehicle crash in the Yarmouth area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties say the crash took place yesterday in the 68-hundred block of Highway 3 when a Nissan Kicks vehicle veered off the roadway and rolled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P say the driver and only person in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Ferry-Update)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Repairs are running ahead of schedule for the M-V Confederation ferry, which is set to be back up and running as early as December 2nd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ferry operating between P-E-I and Nova Scotia has been out of service for nearly three months after a damaging collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Northumberland Ferries general manager Jeff Joyce provided an update on repairs to the vessel at the monthly Belfast council meeting yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Joyce says he can’t provide a specific date for the ship’s return to service because of the final repairs, tests and inspections that still need to be completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well known Newfoundland and Labrador broadcaster Deborah Birmingham has died following a battle with cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 61-year-old was the voice in O-Z-F-M’s show Dawn Patrol, co-hosted with Larry Davis and Randy Snow, who died three months ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland and Labrador broadcasting company N-T-V aired a tribute to Birmingham, showcasing archival footage of the radio star throughout her career yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province’s minister of transportation and infrastructure Fred Hutton used to work with Birmingham, saying she was the kind of person who could make anyone laugh thanks to her quick wit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
