Data from hundreds of thousands of Newfoundland students has been breached in a Power-School platform cyberattack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province’s Education Department says personal information from about 271-thousand students was accessed in the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That includes names, birthdays and health card numbers of students as far back as 1995.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Data from over 14-thousand teachers was also breached including names, addresses and almost 750 social insurance numbers. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 21-year-old woman has succumbed to her injuries after being hit by a car yesterday afternoon in Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Halifax Regional Police provided the update after responding to the crash at the corner of Robie Street and Veterans Memorial Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman was originally taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and a man was arrested for dangerous operation of a conveyance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers had said the man was involved in another collision with a vehicle before the woman was hit. (CTV News)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Impaired-Driving-Trends)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prince Edward Island R-C-M-P are reporting 230 impaired driving arrests last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties say around 60 per cent of those cases involved alcohol while the rest involved drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 35 per cent of the investigations stemmed from tips from the public while 13 came from collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Military-Training)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Halifax Regional Municipality residents and transit users in the area are being advised about a military training exercise tonight in the vicinity of the Bedford Rifle Range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of National Defence says the exercise will take place from 6 p-m to 10 p-m local time and does not involve the use of weapons or live ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department says the exercise is for personnel to become more familiar with equipment and that proper procedures are followed during nighttime operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

France has rejected a bid to move two killer whales to a proposed refuge in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Whale Sanctuary Project says France has turned down the group’s plan to build a coastal refuge in Nova Scotia for captive whales to provide an oceanside retirement home for Wikie and Keijo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two surviving killer whales at Marineland Antibes will now be sent to Spain’s Loro Parque zoo in the Canary Islands, off the northwest coast of Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
