CHMA is hiring for the position of Programming Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are a non-profit campus and community radio station in Sackville, NB with offices at Mount Allison University serving listeners throughout Sackville, New Brunswick and through our online presence. Our mandate is to provide an alternative to private and public broadcasters and serve as a forum for diverse and under-represented voices and artists. The Station broadcasts 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is run by roughly 50 volunteers, a volunteer board of directors, a staff of 6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General Responsibility and Authority of the Programming Director<\/strong> Specific Duties of the Programming Director<\/strong> To prepare and file all programming documents required by government and regulatory agencies.<\/p> Ensure that broadcasting logs (audio and programs logs as required\/requested by the CRTC) are properly kept in keeping with Station and CRTC policies.<\/p> Compile and monitor on-air program logs to ensure programmer compliance.<\/p> To maintain correspondence as necessary with all CHMA members and volunteers on matters relating to programming.<\/p> To manage and retain the files, records, archives, logs and programming library related to the programming schedule aired on Attic Broadcasting.<\/p> When requested by the Station Manager or the Board of Directors, to represent the organization, and, as required, act as spokesperson for Attic Broadcasting.<\/p> Maintain healthy relationships with the staff, board, and programmers.<\/p> Build and maintain a list of contacts made during their employment.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Recruitment, Training, Retention and Discipline<\/p>\n\n\n\n To work with CHMA staff and members to actively recruit new programmers through goal-based initiatives.<\/p> To assist and coordinate with the Station Manager with general orientation and station tours to all new volunteers as well as orientation and training of all programmers. <\/p> Offer feedback and support to all programmers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Programming and Promotion<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ensure that CHMA’s 365\/24\/7 program schedule is full at all times with either locally produced live content, locally generated playlists, or pre-approved syndicated content that meets or exceeds the requirements put forth by the CRTC.<\/p> Download and correctly program all syndicated and pre-recorded materials into the Station’s Automated System.<\/p> Regularly monitor programmers’ shows to ensure compliance with our programming policies and procedures.<\/p> Regularly prepare, issue and distribute the Station’s Programming Schedule online and in print.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Policies and Procedures<\/p>\n\n\n\n Develop and implement strategies for growth and improvement within the programming department.<\/p> To help formulate and recommend policies and procedures to the Station Manager for consideration.<\/p> To administer and supervise procedures and practices in accordance with the policies of Attic Broadcasting. Due Diligence<\/p>\n\n\n\n To exercise due diligence in matters of programming and other operations occurring at the facilities of CHMA Radio.<\/p> To exercise due diligence in the training, supervision and discipline of all programmers, subject to the policies of Attic Broadcasting and in accordance with the needs of the organization.<\/p> To exercise due diligence in the operation of the CHMA facilities.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Reporting to the Station Manager and Board of Directors<\/p>\n\n\n\n To report any problems or issues of concern to the Station Manager.<\/p> To submit any reports the Station Manager may request relating to the position of programming director.<\/p> To prepare a report for each meeting of the Board of Directors.<\/p> To inform the Board of Directors on all matters contained in this job description as necessary or requested.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n Providing Support and Leadership<\/p>\n\n\n\n To offer support to the Station Manager and leadership to other staff and members of the organization.<\/p> Assist with CHMA community and fundraising events.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n This position requires a 20-25 hour work week with regular office hours and some evenings and weekends. In collaboration with the Station Manager, the Program Director will develop and maintain a complete schedule of programming. Specifically this involves coordination of volunteer programmers and the development of new programming initiatives. The Program Director ensures that the Station adheres to CHMA policies, CRTC regulations and CHMA’s promise of performance in regards to programming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
