New Brunswick Liberals are set to table their first budget today since winning the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Premier Susan Holt has said preparing the budget has been tricky because of unspooling developments between Canada and the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the Liberals main campaign promises was to resuscitate the ailing health care system, and Holt says her government will not be shortchanging the public on that front.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the government projected a deficit of nearly 400 million dollars for the current fiscal year, due to soaring health-care costs, including operating and personnel costs at regional health authorities and contracts for travel nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Stolen-Snowmobile)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The R-C-M-P in Saint-Leonard, New Brunswick are asking the public for help to locate a stolen snowmobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the theft is believed to have happened overnight on March 13th at a residence near Couturier Road in Saint-Joseph-de-Madawaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The snowmobile is described as a black 2017 Bombardier Summit with the license plate X-Z-7-2-4-6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The P-E-I Liberal Party says it will choose its next leader on October 4th in Charlottetown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Katie Morello says the Liberals conducted a province-wide policy development process over the past year which has left the party ready to \u201cfight and win\u201d the next provincial election, which is set for October 4th, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People have until September 27th to join the party and become an eligible voter in the leadership contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Those interested in running for the leadership have until July 4th to declare their candidacy and must raise seven-thousand 500 dollars to join the race along with a further 15-thousand dollars over the course of the campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Emergency-Department-Security)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The emergency department at the Dartmouth General Hospital is implementing new security measures officials say will keep patients and care providers safer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting this week anyone that enters the hospital’s emergency department will be searched with hand-held metal-detecting wands and will have their personal belongings searched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Any dangerous objects, weapons or objects that can be used as a weapon will be confiscated and returned when the person leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Discretion will be used by security staff if a patient arriving at the hospital needs urgent and immediate attention. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Crash-Charge)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P say a 17-year-old from Dartmouth faces multiple charges after a crash last week near Windsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say they responded Thursday to a report of a car driving erratically and unsafely on Highway 101.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police located the car twice and say the driver fled in both instances before later hitting the median concrete divider and the guard rail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The youth, who was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment, faces a charge of dangerous driving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Cosmic-Fuel-Tank)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Astronomers at Dalhousie University and the University of British Columbia have discovered what they describe as a “cosmic fuel tank” about 25-billion light years from Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The researchers in Halifax and Vancouver say this region of space represents an infant galaxy cluster that contains a large reservoir of molecular gas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In essence, it’s a part of the early universe where a cluster of galaxies is just beginning to form, allowing astronomers to observe galaxies as they come together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The research, based on data gathered at an astronomy facility in Chile, was published in the journal “Astrophysical Journal Letters.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NL-Snowmobile-Arrest)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland R-C-M-P have arrested a man following an investigation that left a snowmobiler with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers responded to reports of an injured snowmobiler on Gravel’s Pond in Port au Port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was alleged that the operator of the snowmobile fell from the machine after it came to a stop and sustained serious injuries that did not appear to be consistent with a fall from the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police arrested a 66-year-old man who remains in custody and faces a charge of attempted murder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
