Providing one on one support to victims of violence or sexual assault.&quot; The lower left reads &quot;Contact Marie-Michelle at 506-377=5444 marie@crossroadsforwomen.ca For the Moncton, Memramcook, Dorchester and Sackville area&quot;\" class=\"wp-image-5654\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/119118831_176503527337230_8068548052425655504_n.jpg 788w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/119118831_176503527337230_8068548052425655504_n-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/119118831_176503527337230_8068548052425655504_n-768x643.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 788px) 100vw, 788px\" \/><figcaption>Image: Facebook<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/www.chmafm.com\/welcome\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Crossroads-for-Women-Outreach-Program-Extending-to-Sackville.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The following story mentions intimate partner abuse and sexual violence.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TantramarCovid19\/?epa=SEARCH_BOX\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tantramar COVID-19 Task Force<\/a> announced a service soon to be available in Sackville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The group says that <a href=\"https:\/\/crossroadsforwomen.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Crossroads for Women<\/a> will extend their <a href=\"https:\/\/crossroadsforwomen.ca\/en\/programs-services\/community-outreach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Outreach<\/a> program to Sackville for those who can\u2019t make the drive to Moncton.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Community outreach worker Marie-Michelle Hach\u00e9 says that while outreach workers are not counsellors or psychologists, they are able to provide support and resources.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hach\u00e9 says that outreach workers provide \u201ca good safe space to talk&#8230;and problem solve with the client.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Support includes accompanying clients to medical or court appointments, safety planning for leaving abusers, and teaching skills to avoid further contact from ex-partners after leaving.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hach\u00e9 has a safe location in Sackville, and will be travelling to town once a month to meet with clients soon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the first few weeks of lockdown, Hach\u00e9 says that Crossroads For Women saw a decrease in clients and new referrals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is too early to conduct research yet, but she hypothesizes the drop is due to people being stuck at home or in close proximity to their abusers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As their abusive partners are always around, it makes it difficult or impossible to contact others, leave the home, or have a moment alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Folks can reach an outreach worker by calling, emailing, or texting Hach\u00e9 or one of her colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Safety is always a priority, and outreach workers will ask before leaving voicemails or sending emails.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outreach support is available for as long as needed and available to all experiencing intimate partner abuse or sexual violence, regardless of how recent the abuse occurred.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Services are free of charge.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please contact Marie-Michelle at (506) 377-5444 or e-mail <a href=\"mailto:marie@crossroadsforwomen.ca\">marie@crossroadsforwomen.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Crossroads for Women 24 hour crisis line is also available at 1-844-853-0811.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are in immediate danger or fear for your safety, please call 911.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information on how to clear internet caches and cover your tracks can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/crossroadsforwomen.ca\/en\/programs-services\/family-violence-crisis-centre\/82-cover-your-tracks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>By Meg Cunningham<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The following story mentions intimate partner abuse and sexual violence.\u00a0 The Tantramar COVID-19 Task Force announced a service soon to be available in Sackville.
