The search for two missing children in rural northeastern Nova Scotia is now in its fourth day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a short update today, R-C-M-P say over the past three days ground teams have “meticulously searched” several kilometres in the area where the children were last seen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan were last seen on Friday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties are asking the public to stay away from the area to allow trained searchers to do their work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Emergency-Preparedness-Week)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s Emergency Preparedness Week and the R-C-M-P in New Brunswick is encouraging locals to take some time to ensure they have an emergency plan in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The national awareness initiative runs between May 4th and May 10th and encourages people to ensure they are ready in the event of an emergency according to the risks in their region and prepare for different situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties note that being prepared for an emergency is everyone’s responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Arson-Investigation)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in New Brunswick are investigating an arson that caused considerable damage to a Saint John apartment building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say officers found an active fire Saturday after responding to a report of an explosion in the 70-block of Queen Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers say people were seen running from the apartment building after the explosion, and say no one was injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators are asking any witnesses to contact them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Whooping-Cough)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A whooping cough outbreak has now been declared over in New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provincewide outbreak was declared last August following an initial outbreak on the Acadian Peninsula in June of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over one-thousand cases of whooping cough were reported during the outbreak– the most since 2012. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Whooping cough activity is usually cyclical, with increases every five to seven years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Summerside-Police)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City of Summerside in eastern P-E-I has a new police chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jason Blacquiere has served with the Summerside Police Service for 25 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He started in general patrol before advancing to investigative work within the drug section, and he also oversaw operations, training, recruiting and media relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He completed three terms as acting deputy chief before his formal appointment as deputy in October 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Pride-Support)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Rural Communities Foundation of Nova Scotia has launched a new project aimed at supporting L-G-B-T-Q+ Pride organizers in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fund will provide financial and administrative support to Pride groups in the St. Margaret’s Bay and West Hants regions this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The foundation says many Pride organizers are volunteers and are not registered charities, making it hard for these groups to access funding to put on events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It says the Rural Pride Fund will act as a partner with these organizers to help them receive charitable donations for Pride-related events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
