Police in Nova Scotia are scaling back their search for two missing children, saying there’s little chance they are alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An R-C-M-P spokesman says the active search will be reduced to concentrate on more specific areas, including places that have already been looked at.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Six-year-old Lily Sullivan and four-year-old Jack Sullivan were reported missing on Friday morning, after the two reportedly wandered away from their home in Lansdowne Station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Brunswick’s official Opposition critic for addictions and mental health, Rob Weir says young people are raising awareness of mental health via the ice bucket challenge and he wants to help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weir took the challenge today in front of the Legislature with the help of students from Riverview Middle School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The challenge involves having a bucket of ice water poured over your head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When he was done, he challenged Addictions and Mental Health Minister Rob McKee to take the challenge next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Brain-Disease)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Researchers say an analysis has found no evidence to support claims of a mystery brain disease in New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their study published today in the journal JAMA Neurology says “unfounded concerns” of a potentially fatal mystery disease were amplified by traditional and social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The study looked at 25 patients who were evaluated at two hospitals in New Brunswick and Ontario, finding their symptoms could be traced back to several known neurodegenerative and non-neurodegenerative conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reported symptoms have included bursts of intense pain, muscle spasms, memory problems, balance issues, and behavioural changes. (The Canadian Press)

(NB-Local-Governance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Brunswick government has tabled legislation that aims to improve how local governance is funded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister of Local Government Aaron Kennedy brought forward the bill, hoping for fiscal reform that allows for significant investments in municipalities across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If the bill passes, the province says it would be able to grant local government more stability when planning their budgets — ultimately improving the delivery of services across New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newfoundland and Labrador is investing in the creation of a new artificial intelligence training program for business development across the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provincial government says the association representing community business development corporations is being given more than 1.9-million dollars to support the creation of the A-I micro-credential training program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The program aims to introduce A-I for small and medium businesses, while providing focused training and development across sectors of the business industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
