No injuries were reported after a fire at the Irving Oil refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fire broke out yesterday, producing a large black plume of smoke in East Saint John \u2013 the city\u2019s fire department responded shortly after 9 a-m after reports of a product leak at the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The department says fire crews, working with the refinery’s response team, helped to contain and extinguish the fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Irving Oil posted a notice on its Facebook page calling the fire an “operational incident” and said things had returned to normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Brunswick R-C-M-P says it is investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash near the community of Charlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties say a 37-year-old Lorne man was killed after he lost control of his vehicle along Highway 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the vehicle left the road, and the driver died from his injuries at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Mounties are working with an R-C-M-P collision reconstructionist to continue the investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northumberland Ferries has resumed sailings between P-E-I and Nova Scotia after unspecified \u201ctechnical issues\u201d with the ferry M-V Confederation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The problem forced the cancellation of morning sailings yesterday between Wood Islands, P-E-I and Caribou, Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company resumed crossings with afternoon trips using M-V Northumberland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The service also experienced disruptions last week when a number of sailings were cancelled due to what the company said were unusually low tides in the Northumberland Strait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
