New Brunswick is reporting a case of measles in Sussex.

It says the case involves a person who travelled to the area from another province between June 22nd and June 23rd.

Officials say they believe there are other measles cases in the region.

The Health Department didn’t respond to an email asking whether the case was the first reported in the province this year.

A partnership between Habitat for Humanity New Brunswick and the provincial government has enabled a family from the St. George district of Eastern Charlotte to move into a new home.

David Hickey of the New Brunswick Housing Corporation says the lack of medium-density housing in the province is one of the challenges that the corporation is trying to address.

Habitat for Humanity is granted 70-thousand dollars per unit build by the government, for a total of 10 new homes per year.

The new home in Eastern Charlotte is the 18th affordable dwelling built through the partnership since 2023.

Hydro-Québec says it is suspending work at a planned electric station in Labrador amid protests.

It says the utility is monitoring the situation in the Gull Island area with a commitment to understanding the demonstrators’ concerns.

Hydro-Québec said earlier this week it was set to begin geotechnical and environmental studies in the area, in preparation for future construction work.

The utility announced a tentative agreement last year with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to build a hydroelectric generating station at Gull Island, along the Churchill River in Labrador.

Drivers who park illegally at parking lots at Halifax’s largest hospitals are facing fines of up to 500 dollars.

The Health Department announced that the penalties will apply to those who violate parking rules at the Halifax Infirmary and Victoria General, as well as the IWK Health Centre.

Health Minister Michelle Thompson says free on-site parking at health facilities is strictly for patients, visitors and authorized staff.

She says the province has created new regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act that indicate the documents that need to be displayed to show the person is allowed to be using the lots.
