Environment Canada has issued heat warning for the majority of Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The weather agency says Nova Scotians should prepare for an extended period of hot and humid weather over the next couple days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It says humidex values will hit 38 degrees, and the period of heat will last until Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Wildfires)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt has announced a sweeping ban covering all activities on Crown lands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The move prohibits hiking, camping, fishing and the use of vehicles in the woods on Crown lands, while trail systems are also off limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holt says the move is necessary to ensure safety and to protect the province\u2019s forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province is dealing with seven wildfires as of yesterday, including one out-of-control blaze on Oldfield Road in the Bartibog area northeast of Miramichi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Wildfires)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of Newfoundland’s active wildfires gained more ground over the weekend, threatening structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland and Labrador Premier John Hogan says it’s too early to know how many structures have been lost in the Adam’s Cove, Kingston and Western Bay areas due to high smoke and fire suppression efforts blocking visibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Late Friday, that wildfire was reported to have destroyed nine homes in the small town of Small Point-Adam’s Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hogan said the blaze that was 30 square kilometres Saturday morning had reached 50 square kilometres by Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Wildfire-Holyrood)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier says the wildfire in the Holyrood area is now considered “held.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Firefighters are using hose lines to keep the fire contained at about 0.22 square kilometres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The evacuation order for this area has been lifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Fire-Ban-Parks) Parks Canada has implemented a fire ban in its national parks on Prince Edward Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federal parks department says this is necessary because of the elevated risk of wildfires due to hot and dry weather.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Burning illegally can result in a fine ranging from 250-dollars to 25-thousand dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
