Canada opened its Davis Cup tie against Israel in an empty Scotiabank Centre in Halifax due to security concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tennis Canada made the decision earlier this week to hold the matches without spectators or media present, following concerns raised by local authorities and other security agencies about safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several activist groups protested the matches today and plan to do so again tomorrow over Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in the Israel-Hamas war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) will not be laying charges against a New Brunswick R-C-M-P officer following the death of a man during an arrest in Shediac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency says there was no wrongdoing when an officer fired a Taser-like weapon in a struggle with a man behaving erratically during a service call in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A report says officers first encountered the individual in a bathroom with broken glass, large amounts of blood, and drug paraphernalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After hit with the energy weapon, the man was transported to hospital by ambulance, but died the following day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Casino-Trial)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Riverview man has been sentenced in the death of a manager at Casino New Brunswick, two-years-ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 50-year-old was sentenced before the Court of King’s Bench in Moncton on Monday to three years in jail for manslaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He’s also prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms for a period of ten years and is subject to a lifetime ban on prohibited weapons and firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A jury found Michael Thomas Glaspy guilty of manslaughter in June in connection with an assault at the Moncton Casino on March 4th, 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Missing-Woman)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties say the vehicle belonging to a missing American woman in New Brunswick has been found in a wooded area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 57-year-old from Hyannis, Massachusetts, was last seen on July 14th near the Woodstock border crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her vehicle was recovered deep in the woods on Sunday in Chapmanville, about 70 kilometres away from Woodstock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police search and rescue teams have been in the area, but there have reportedly been no signs of her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Fishing-Charges)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two men are facing charges after illegally netting Atlantic salmon near King\u2019s Point in Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Resource enforcement officers say the accused used a gillnet attached to a wharf and were seen the next morning retrieving the net using a boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The pair are facing Fisheries Act charges for setting fishing gear during a closed time, fishing for salmon by means of a net, and possession of salmon caught in contravention of the Fisheries Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
