A 42-year-old man is facing charges in connection with the theft of expensive tools and equipment from a business in Moncton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick R-C-M-P say the tools and equipment were seized following a search of a Savoie Drive property on December 11th after reports of theft at the business on Hump Yard Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The accused was arrested at the scene without incident and scheduled to appear in court on January 30th. (The Canadian Press)

(NS-Fentanyl-Cannabis)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nova Scotia R-C-M-P and Halifax police both say no fentanyl has been found in illegal cannabis tested in the province, despite the premier’s claim to the contrary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Premier Tim Houston said last week he had directed police to ramp up cannabis enforcement because of the public health risk, saying he was aware of unregulated cannabis “laced with traces of fentanyl.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Houston said people in law enforcement had told him trace amounts of the opioid were found in cannabis that was tested from an illegal dispensary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-RCMP-Cleared)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick\u2019s police watchdog has cleared an R-C-M-P officer of wrongdoing after a young man suffered a broken elbow during an arrest in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Serious Incident Response Team says the officer in Sussex was called to a group home about a resident being violent and damaging property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The young man was spotted carrying a large piece of asphalt near a broken window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A report from the oversight agency says the man resisted arrest and spit in the officer\u2019s face before the Mountie placed the suspect’s arm behind his back and then heard a pop, resulting in the broken elbow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Population-Slide)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New numbers from Statistics Canada say Nova Scotia’s population growth is tapering off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It appears the province’s population boom recorded since the COVID-19 pandemic began has ended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
StatCan data shows that as of October 1st, there was a decline of 13-hundred and eight-eight people from July 1st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Flu-Shot)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newfoundland and Labrador’s chief medical officer of health is strongly recommending that everyone six months of age and older in the province receive their flu shot as soon as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a release, the Department of Health and Community Services expressed concern over an early start to this year\u2019s influenza season across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency points to higher than usual flu activity, complications, hospitalizations, and deaths, including children who recently died in Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Firearms-Seizure)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties arrested a man following the seizure of multiple firearms at a residence in northwest P-E-I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators say a rifle, shotgun, handgun, and ammunition was found during a search on a home in Alberton yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The man has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Newfoundland volunteer fire captain says prolonged power outages are a safety hazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Michelle Wells told C-B-C news that without working phone lines and power, residents have no way to reach first responders in the case of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wells comments come after the thousands of residents along the province\u2019s Northern Peninsula lost power for nearly two days following heavy winds and snow earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wells says poor cell phone reception in certain areas of the province is also a cause for concern in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
