Cruickshank said while the open gym grew out of that group, it is open to help from across the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think it\u2019s hard for us not to be Dorchester Beavers and Cubs because that\u2019s what we\u2019re just known for anyway,\u201d said Cruikshank, \u201cWe started it up through Dorchester Beavers and Cubs, and left it open to whichever leaders want to get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Open-ended and focused on fun<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cruickshank said the program does not have a fixed end date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOh, completely open-ended. As long as we want to keep it going, until the weather gets good and kids can play outside, or, we\u2019ll just keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked what he hopes kids get out of the open gym, his answer was straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs long as they\u2019re having fun. They\u2019re running around tonight. They\u2019re having fun. They\u2019re just goofing off. The parents are out playing with them.
