Much of Atlantic Canada is under a weather warning this morning as heavy snow and strong winds are predicted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Environment Canada says a storm pushing north from the U-S should bring significant snowfall through most of Nova Scotia, and parts of New Brunswick and P-E-I<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Much of Nova Scotia should see between 15 and 20 centimetres, with more snowfall possible along the coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-First-Nation-Shooting)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A police oversight agency is investigating after a man was shot and killed by the R-C-M-P on a First Nation in northwestern New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Serious Incident Response Team says it was contacted yesterday after the police-involved shooting on Neqotkuk (nuh-GWET’-kook), also known as Tobique First Nation, near the province’s border with Maine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties issued an advisory on social media yesterday regarding a police operation on the First Nation and asked people to avoid the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A statement from Neqotkuk First Nation Chief Ross Perley and council identified the deceased man as Bronson Paul and extended condolences to his family and friends<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Copper-Theft)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in southern New Brunswick say three people have been charged with stealing about 90 kilograms of copper wire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P say they got a tip on January 14th about a suspicious truck on a rural road in the community of Clarendon, but the truck was gone when officers arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers followed the truck to a nearby home, where two people were arrested, and where 70 grams of methamphetamine and a small amount of psilocybin were also found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the third suspect returned to the house a short time later and turned himself in. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-US-Liquor)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The stockpile of American liquor in Newfoundland and Labrador is down by half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
N-L Liquor Corporation C-E-O Bruce Keating told radio station V-O-C-M that there was an initial rush on the booze when the province put it back on the shelf just before Christmas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Keating says whiskey and wine from California sold out quickly, but there’s still about half of their original inventory left. (VOCM)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Bridgewater-Robbery)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police along Nova Scotia’s south shore are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bridgewater Police Service says it responded to a report of a robbery late Saturday in which two people took cash from a business on North Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say the suspects had firearms and were able to evade police. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers are asking anyone with information or who may have dashcam or doorbell footage to contact them. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Fish-Plant)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Government officials in Newfoundland are set to meet with the mayor and councilors of St. Mary\u2019s today to address concerns about a former fish sauce plant in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the weekend, residents in the area were asked to evacuate as strong winds turned the abandoned building into a safety hazard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The town council and provincial environment department have been in talks about how to move forward with the building, the province said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Along with the debris from the building, officials are worried about the stench from more than 100 vats of fermented fish that have been stuck inside the plant for more than 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
