The City of St. John\u2019s has stopped short of declaring a state of emergency, but it has asked people to stay home after another major snowfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Weather watchers say more than 50 centimetres fell in St. John\u2019s yesterday, though the suburb of Paradise saw nearly 80 centimetres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That\u2019s on top of more than 50 centimetres recorded from another storm last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
People were posting on social media last night asking for help getting out of their buried front doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Flights were cancelled this morning at the St. John\u2019s International Airport, and city buildings were closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some Fredericton residents are worried about the smell of diesel lingering near their homes after a fuel spill at a nearby construction site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The City of Fredericton posted to social media over the weekend that the spill happened at a private construction site on Glengarry Place and Golf Club Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials said the spill is also impacting the city\u2019s stormwater management system, but there is no risk to its drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Brunswick Environment Department is monitoring the cleanup efforts, which are expected to take several days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Shediac-Fatal)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A New Brunswick man is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Shediac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P say a truck appears to have crossed the centre line on Route 133 into oncoming traffic on Friday night, and it collided with a car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 45-year-old driver of the car died at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 20-year-old driver of the truck and his four passengers were transported to hospital, and the driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Storm-Warning)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia is under a winter storm warning, with 25 to 50 centimetres of snow expected today and into tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Environment Canada has the province\u2019s south shore from Lunenburg to Yarmouth under a winter storm warning, with high winds and heavy snow on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of the province is under a snowfall warning, calling for totals ranging from 15 to 30 centimetres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The weather service says freezing rain and drizzle could accompany the snow in the Halifax area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia Power says they\u2019ve activated their emergency operations centre and have crews standing by in case of power outages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia Finance Minister John Lohr is set to deliver the provincial budget today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Residents can expect to see some spending cuts, which started last week when the government announced it was closing three provincial museums and tourist information centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In December, Lohr asked all government departments to recommend ways to cut 10 per cent from their programs and grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this year, Premier Tim Houston said the provincial deficit had climbed to 1.4-billion dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connor Hellebuyck impressed fans as the goalie for the St. John\u2019s Ice caps nearly a decade ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hellebuyck played with the American Hockey League team for the 2014-15 season, earning six shutouts and 28 wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He now plays with the Winnipeg Jets in the N-H-L and he helped the United States national men\u2019s hockey team defeat Canada yesterday to win Olympic gold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
