Mounties in Oromocto say a person involved in a hit-and-run has died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P are still seeking the public\u2019s help in identifying the vehicle involved — believed to be a blue 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer — which fled the scene prior to police arrival. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The incident happened just after 9-30 p-m on route two near Swan Creek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators believe the sedan’s front end would have significant damage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police say two youths \u2014 one in Nova Scotia and one from Manitoba \u2014 were allegedly planning simultaneous attacks at their local schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, say they received information on Friday from Interpol and the F-B-I that a 15-year-old from the town and a Manitoba youth were talking online about attacking students at Park View Education Centre and Rivers Collegiate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
They say the attack was not believed to be imminent, but that some thought and planning went into the idea. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers searched a Bridgewater home and found handwritten plans, imitation weapons, a roughly made imitation pipe bomb and an assault rifle, as well as clothing with hate symbols. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The youth was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, uttering threats, and police say they are investigating whether charges relating to hate crimes and other offences can be laid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Newfoundland and Labrador\u2019s auditor general says the province\u2019s public housing stock has declined despite surging demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Denise Hanrahan says the number of people on the wait-list for provincial housing increased by 71 per cent from 2021 to 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, she says the housing inventory has decreased by 57 units since 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hanrahan is calling on the province to develop a long-term plan to manage the gap between supply and demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Nova Scotia politician is urging New Brunswick’s premier to reconsider newly announced plans to introduce a toll near the provincial boundary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Premier Susan Holt’s government announced the toll in its provincial budget, estimating it would bring in 10.4-million dollars annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The New Brunswick government said the toll would be imposed by 2028 for out-of-province vehicles on the Trans-Canada Highway by Aulac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Elizabeth Smith-McCrossin says the toll will hurt many residents in her constituency of Cumberland North who travel across the provincial boundary regularly for work, shopping and medical appointments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He first served in cabinet as the province\u2019s finance and later as health minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
