The New Brunswick government is spending millions of dollars to get ready for wildfire season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province is adding more than 70 new year-round forest rangers, and spending three-million dollars on new aircraft that can scoop water from rivers and lakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s also spending millions on new preparedness investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Farm-Roads)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick is more than doubling the money it spends on roads used by farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The provincial government says it\u2019s bumping the budget for the Agricultural Roads Program from 100-thousand to 250-thousand dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funds can be used for minor upgrades on public, but not-maintained roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Shooting)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties say one person is dead and another is fighting for their life after a shooting in central Newfoundland that’s believed to be targeted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P say they were called about a shooting yesterday at a home in Grand Falls-Windsor, west of Gander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A person from inside the home was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries, while the suspect fled in a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police later tracked down the vehicle, and officers found a person dead nearby. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Mountie-Threats)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Mountie in Cape Breton has been charged with uttering threats against a woman he knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia’s police oversight agency says it began an investigation in February after receiving a complaint from the R-C-M-P detachment in Baddeck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Serious Incident Response Team says the officer was charged yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Knife-Arrest)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A man in northern Labrador is facing multiple charges after allegedly making threats and brandishing a knife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police in Natuashish (nat-whah-SHEESH\u2019) say they received reports of a man threatening multiple people on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, the same man was reportedly causing a disturbance and threatening people with a knife at a store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 27-year-old is charged with possessing a weapon, uttering threats and failure to comply with a probation order. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Sex-Assault-Generations)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An 82-year-old Halifax man is facing multiple sex charges for allegedly abusing his daughter, granddaughter and great-granddaughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Court documents allege the accused sexually assaulted his great-granddaughter between October 2025 and January of this year in an eastern Nova Scotia community when she was under 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is also accused of sexually assaulting his granddaughter between 2009 and 2015 near Halifax when she was under 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the last of 10 criminal charges alleges the man indecently assaulted his daughter between 1981 and 1983 in a suburb west of Halifax. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former Canadian swim star and two-time Olympic medallist Nancy Garapick is dead at age 84. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Halifax native set a world record as a 13-year-old in the 200-metre backstroke at the 1975 Eastern Canadian Swimming Championships in Brantford, Ontario.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was named Canada\u2019s youngest-ever female athlete of the year at age 14, and the following year, she earned bronze medals at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
