Victims of sexual abuse at the hands of a former Saint John, New Brunswick police officer can now seek compensation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick\u2019s Court of King\u2019s Bench has approved a 16.5-million dollar settlement for survivors of sexual abuse committed by Kenneth Estabrooks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Court-appointed administer K-P-M-G says the abuse happened between 1953 and 1975 when Estabrooks was a police officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Victims have until April 2027 to submit their claim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police in southeastern New Brunswick handed out dozens of tickets in a recent enforcement blitz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
R-C-M-P say 97 tickets and 200 warnings were issued over about two weeks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers also suspended licences, towed vehicles and laid several charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Hitman-Guilty)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Hells Angels hitman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the deaths of a Nova Scotia couple more than 25 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fifty-six-year-old Les Douglas Greenwood was to face a third first-degree murder trial for the killings of the couple in Annapolis Valley after two previous convictions were tossed on appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last month he pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of manslaughter and was sentenced 15 years on each charge, to be served concurrently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Greenwood was already service life sentences for killing two men in Montreal in 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Firearms-Charges)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nova Scotia R-C-M-P have charged a man with a series of firearm offences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say they responded to a fight between two people in Yarmouth Friday and determined one of them was in possession of a firearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A public safety alert was then issued directing people to shelter in place, and a 30-year-old man was later arrested in his home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A shotgun was seized, and the man is facing 16 offences including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and tampering with a firearm serial number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten recent nurse practitioner graduates will soon join the health care system in P-E-I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Health P-E-I says seven of the new recruits will work in primary care in Charlottetown, Summerside and Montague.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The others will serve in specialty roles to strengthen key areas across the island such as seniors and acute care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The health authority says it remains committed to ongoing recruitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Parking-Ban)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s a sure sign of spring — the City of St. John\u2019s, Newfoundland is lifting its winter parking ban.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ban had been in place since January to make way for snow clearing operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was extended to April 18th because of a chance of winter weather, but the city announced Monday that the ban is now officially lifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The city can still ban vehicles in the event of a late spring snow storm, and fine anybody who breaks it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
