New Brunswick R-C-M-P say they believe a fatal crash north of Saint John on Monday was caused by a driver trying to avoid a moose. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties say the driver of a southbound vehicle on Highway 7 swerved to avoid the moose, crossed into the opposing lane and struck a northbound vehicle head on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A 31-year-old man who was driving the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A New Brunswick food manufacturer has received more than half a million dollars from the federal government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officials say the 541-thousand-dollar loan helped Sai Krishna Foods expand and upgrade its production facility in Cape-Pel\u00e9, northeast of Moncton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company says it currently employs eight people, but the renovated facility will allow it to hire more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mounties in central Newfoundland are investigating two cases of intimate partner violence after separate shootings of women in the community of Grand Falls-Windsor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Superintendent Paul Peddle says the shootings on April 8th and April 10th were isolated incidents that involved men firing a gun at their partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The woman who was shot on April 8th is in stable condition and the woman who was shot on April 10th was found dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police in northern Nova Scotia are investigating a shooting that left one man dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators with the Amherst Police Department say police have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public, but the suspects remain at large.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The shooting was reported just before 7 p-m Monday after residents told police they heard a loud bang from Prince Arthur Street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P-E-I\u2019s finance minister has tabled a record deficit budget for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jill Burridge introduced the 2026-27 budget in Charlottetown yesterday with a 410-million dollar deficit, the largest in provincial history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s more than double the 184-million-dollar deficit the Progressive Conservative government introduced last spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
