The Correctional Service of Canada says an inmate in New Brunswick’s maximum security prison was the victim of assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The inmate at the Atlantic Institution in Renous was injured on Monday and taken to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The federal corrections service did not share details of the incident, but say the assailant has been identified and appropriate actions have been taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Brunswick’s government has signed a collective agreement with school support staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new deal includes a general wage increase of five dollars per hour spread out over four years, retroactive to February 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agreement signed comes more than a year after the two sides reached a tentative deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two members of the Royal Canadian Navy are facing charges after an investigation into the death of a sailor on a military boat that capsized in Halifax harbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Military police say Petty Officer 2nd Class Gregory Applin was one of two sailors thrown into the cold water on the night of January 24th, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The military says Sailor First Class Alexandre Garrison has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, and negligent performance of military duties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NS-Transit-Service)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nova Scotia government is exploring whether to create a transit network linking Halifax to three rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The province says it’s looking to gauge interest from service providers for a new system connecting the capital city with Truro, Wolfville and Bridgewater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It says the inter-municipal transit system would offer regular, dependable travel along routes for daily commuting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NL-Fake-Nurse)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A Newfoundland woman’s efforts to work illegally as a nurse were laid out in court after she pleaded guilty to fraud and impersonation charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 46-year-old woman was previously convicted in Ontario of criminal negligence in the death of her son in 2021, resulting in the loss of her nursing license. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Court heard that after his death, the woman moved home to Newfoundland and applied for work as a nurse under multiple different names. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was eventually hired by a travel nursing firm to work in retirement homes in St. John’s and Gander between March 2021 and late 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Time-Capsule)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Provincial officials in Charlottetown have recently opened a 64-year-old time capsule embedded in the wall of a decommissioned home for people with intellectual disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inside the capsule, they found a copy of The Guardian newspaper, one penny, newspaper clippings about the opening of the facility, and two documents addressed to the province\u2019s then-health minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The capsule was sealed beneath the building\u2019s cornerstone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
