New Brunswick Premier Susan Holt will be in Ottawa today to discuss the economy, defence and major projects with Prime Minister Mark Carney and his ministers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Holt says she also plans to press for federal partnership on health-care funding, energy infrastructure and critical mineral development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Last year, the federal major projects office selected a proposed tungsten mine in Sisson Brook, New Brunswick, as a development it could help fast-track to benefit the national economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Brunswick’s Emergency Measures Organization is issuing various flooding alerts for the Saint John River this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gagetown is forecast to reach the criteria for a flood warning this morning, followed by Jemseg on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Emergency Measures Organization says a flood warning means flooding is certain or imminent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fredericton, Hampton, Grand Lake and other parts of the river are also under flood advisories and watches this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The owner of a Nova Scotia logistics and trucking company says a federal tax break on fuel should provide relief to hard-hit customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Karanjeet Singh with NovaExpress in Dartmouth says his company\u2019s fuel bill has doubled since the war in Iran began spiking prices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Singh says his company, with more than 200 vehicles, previously offered some clients all-in-one rates, but uncertainty has meant he has had to add a surcharge that varies with the price at the pumps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The temporary suspension of the federal excise tax on fuel is expected to drop gasoline prices by 10 cents per litre and the cost of diesel by four cents per litre. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police in Nova Scotia have charged two people with human trafficking and financial crimes in an investigation they say is connected to New Brunswick and Ontario. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers with the Nova Scotia human trafficking unit found connections to the other provinces with more than 500-thousand dollars in suspected proceeds of crime allegedly funnelled through casinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this month, two people were arrested during a traffic stop near Milford, about 40 kilometres north of Halifax. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chaisson says buyers are more open to seal products, especially in Canada. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 29-year-old P-E-I man has become the first internationally recognized chess master in the Island\u2019s history. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jorge Moreno\u2019s recent performance at a tournament in Montreal qualified him for the title.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreno says he was surprised to find a lively chess scene on the Island after moving from Peru five years ago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
