His family made the announcement in a news release, saying he died today surrounded by his immediate family in Moncton, New Brunswick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(NB-Hatchery-Modernization)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New Brunswick and the federal government will jointly invest just over 375-thousand dollars into infrastructure upgrades to a fish hatchery in Charlo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a release, the province said the money for the Charlo Salmonid Enhancement Centre will secure a more reliable water supply for the hatchery and research facility, and support long-term aquaculture operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The project includes drilling a new, larger well, acquiring an industrial fish grader and modernizing the water distribution system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new report suggests the Newfoundland and Labrador government must make “significant decisions” before resuming negotiations with Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec on a proposed energy deal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A source has told The Canadian Press that a government panel has concluded that a non-binding 2024 energy deal signed by Newfoundland and Labrador’s hydroelectric utility with Quebec is not good enough for the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In particular, the panel says the agreement does not give Newfoundland and Labrador sufficient power, which could limit energy-hungry sectors such as mining and hamper long-term economic growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mounties in Prince Edward Island have identified a deceased man discovered in Malpeque Bay almost 29 years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a release, R-C-M-P say the use of familial D-N-A helped identify remains found by a local fisherman on June 7th, 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators did not reveal the identity of the deceased out of respect for their family, who have now been informed of the D-N-A match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mounties added that the P-E-I Coroner\u2019s Office, Quebec Coroner\u2019s Office and the Surete du Quebec all played important roles in resolving the case. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 21-year-old man is facing charges — including attempted murder — in connection with a stabbing on the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cape Breton Regional Police say the incident was part of an altercation on Veterans Avenue in Membertou overnight Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The victim suffered serious injuries to his abdomen and was rushed to hospital by paramedics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Investigators say the suspect was found in a vehicle parked at a residence in Millville and was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Close to two-million dollars in joint funding from Nova Scotia and the federal government will help a childcare centre relocate and expand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a release, the province said Silver Crescent Academy Society will build a new childcare centre in Halifax\u2019s Bayers Lake Business Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Expected to open late this year, the new centre will have up to 120 spaces, up from 71 at the current location in Rockingham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
