The Correctional Service of Canada says an inmate in a federal prison in New Brunswick was assaulted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency says the inmate at the Atlantic Institution in Renous was taken to hospital after the August 4th assault.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\u2019s since returned to the maximum security prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency says the person responsible has been identified and that \u2014 quote \u2014 “appropriate actions have been taken.\u201d (The Canadian Press)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A partial solar eclipse was visible across Atlantic Canada yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over 50 per cent of the sun in St. John\u2019s, Newfoundland, was obstructed by the moon at the peak of the eclipse, while 34 per cent of it was covered in Charlottetown and 31 per cent in Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sky-watchers will be able to see a meteor shower this week, with 60 to 100 shooting stars per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A young driver in Newfoundland has been charged with performing a stunt on an all-terrain vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police say officers saw a 16-year-old operating an A-T-V perform a stunt in St. Lawrence on Tuesday, though they did not describe the stunt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Officers approached the youth, who was unable to provide valid insurance documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(Halifax-US-Threats)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A bail hearing for a man accused of making a bomb threat against the U-S Consulate in Halifax will resume on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The hearing for 54-year-old Ali Assakereh was adjourned yesterday after his legal aid lawyer asked for a pause.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The suspect was charged with uttering threats and public mischief after police said his vehicle was parked near the downtown consulate with a propane tank and flammable liquids inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

(PEI-Tourist-Benches)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
P-E-I is rolling out a series of benches at locations associated with the best-selling novel \u201cThis Summer Will Be Different.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first handcrafted benches will be installed at Basin Head Provincial Park and Point Prim Lighthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other locations featured in Canadian author Carley Fortune\u2019s work will see benches over the coming months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
