New Brunswick announced 8 new cases of COVID-19 on February 1st and only in Zones 1 and 4, which are the only two zones not in the orange phase of COVID-19 restrictions.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zone 1, which includes Sackville and surrounding areas, has three new cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All new cases in Zone 1 are in people aged 30 to 39 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 74 active cases of COVID-19 in Zone 1, the second-highest case count in New Brunswick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zone 4, which remains in strict lockdown, is the source of the other five cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The province has a total of 273 active cases, and announced 18 new recoveries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While new cases are announced every day, the active case number is slowly inching away from the 300 mark due to the optimistic rate of recoveries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

18 New Brunswickers, however, have died due to the virus to date.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three people are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19, with two in intensive care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orange is not yet on the horizon for Zones 1 and 4, and an explanation of COVID-19 restrictions is available on the Government of New Brunswick\u2019s website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vaccine numbers have been updated on New Brunswick\u2019s COVID-19 Dashboard.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4,460 people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vaccines currently approved for use in Canada require two doses, so those who are \u201cfully vaccinated\u201d have therefore received two doses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

17,277 doses of the vaccine have been administered in total, but a large number of those doses are single doses, so the majority of those people are not quite fully vaccinated as of yesterday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nova Scotia announced just one new case, but the active case count remains at 10 as there have been recoveries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PEI has two new cases, both related to travel outside of the Atlantic provinces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The province confirmed that the cases, one man in his 50s and another in his late needs, were unrelated to one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two were already self-isolating due to their recent travel, and were asymptomatic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The positive diagnoses were discovered during routine testing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the two cases was on Air Canada Flight AC8302 on January 28th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While all passengers on that flight are self-isolating, as it is mandatory, PEI Public Health advises they self-monitor for symptoms and get tested should they develop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
