A 62-year-old Sackville man is scheduled to appear in court on October 27 for sentencing after admitting to killing and dismembering his spouse nearly three years ago.
Roger Hilyard Crossman appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on Friday, September 25 by way of tele-remand, where he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as well as improperly or indecently interfering with a dead human body or human remains. He was remanded into custody until his sentencing hearing.
His plea comes three years after Marlene Cheryl Crossman’s body was found when Sackville RCMP responded to a well-being check on the afternoon of October 12, 2023, for an individual living at a residence on King Street. Later that same day, Roger Crossman turned himself into the Antigonish RCMP detachment in Nova Scotia, and was subsequently arrested in connection with the investigation.
The New Brunswick RCMP’s Major Crime Unit determined the woman’s death to be a homicide.
The following day, (Oct 13, 2023), Crossman appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by way of tele-remand and was charged with first degree murder of his spouse. He was remanded into custody, and was ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric assessment.
