Tantramar council to hear draft budget ahead of Oct. 26 Committee of the Whole meeting

Tantramar council is going to be busy on Monday.

Their morning starts with a 9 am presentation on the 2027 draft budget from Treasurer Michael Beal, and in the afternoon they will have the regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting at 3 pm.

On the agenda are two climate-related presentations. Per a directive from the Sept. 8 council meeting, the Climate Change Advisory Committee has prepared advice to council relating to the 45 conditions in the environmental assessment of the RIGS gas plant; and EOS Eco Energy will present a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the municipality.

Council will also hear about a text amendment to zoning bylaws related to attached dwelling units and vertical dwellings, the Dorchester ATV Parade of Lights, street closures for an upcoming Touch a Truck event, along with considerations to take over ownership of the Rail Trail and the potential purchase of a new plug-in hybrid vehicle for the Tantramar Protective Services fleet.
