Telephone Number
The studio telephone number is: 506-364-2222
Please share this number with your guest ahead of time and request them to call when you are ready to go on air. There would be a flickering white light that would go off when the guest calls.
IMPORTANT:
- Always answer the telephone call when you are NOT live. It is always a good idea to pre-screen the call before jumping on-air.
- When ready to go live, always inform your telephone guest that their call would now be broadcasted live on the radio. It is necessary to take their consent before doing so, it’s a federal offence to broadcast someone without their knowledge or permission.
- If there is an unexpected call during your show, you are not obligated to answer it.
When the Guest Calls
- Answer the call using the black telephone
- Once connected, place the receiver on the table; please do not place it back onto the telephone cradle as it will end the call and not broadcast on the radio
Bringing the Caller On Air
When your guest is ready to join the broadcast:
1. Locate the “Caller” channel on the board
– This is located to the right of the Host channel
2. Push the Caller channel fader halfway up.
3. Press the square button on that channel; the button should light up bright red.
4. Depending on the caller, the level will need to be adjusted carefully and is prone to distortion. This is a limitation of the technology. Adjust the call level carefully to find a good balance.
You can now use the other channels as you normally would, the caller will hear the same audio as you, including music, your voice and guests as you hear it.
NOTE:
You will need to wear headphones to hear the caller while live.
You will need to adjust the Caller channel fader as needed depending on how soft or loud the guest sounds over the phone.
When you are not live, you can talk to your guest through the telephone receiver.
The caller will hear all the music and guests’ mics through the phone line.
After the Call Ends
Once the segment is finished:
- Bring the Caller channel fader all the way down.
- Turn off the square button (the red light should go off).
- Place the telephone receiver back onto the telephone cradle.
