NOTE: If the weather today interfered with a COVID-19 testing appointment, Horizon Health says to resubmit a request online or by calling 811 as soon as possible. Once resubmitted, expect a phone call with a new appointment date and time.
All schools in Anglophone East, Chignecto-Central, and Francophone Sud are closed due to weather today.
Mount Allison campus will close at noon, but students can expect to attend online classes and labs. Library services and student services will still be carried out online wherever possible.
Sackville Town Hall is closing early at noon.
Some Sackville businesses are staying out of the shop today, including:
- Cattail Ridge Family Market,
- Knuckles Truffles,
- Mel’s Tearoom, and
- Tidewater Books.
Aida’s Café, The Black Duck Café, and Cranewood Bakery have confirmed that they are open despite the snowfall.
Jean Coutu Pharmacy, Rose’s Independent Grocer, and The Corner Drug Store are also open with no plans to close early as of yet,
Southern, Eastern, and Central New Brunswick should count on snow (and lots of it) until midnight tonight.
15-30 centimetres are expected throughout the province, and will become mixed with ice pellets before switching to rain.
Environment Canada released a travel advisory, as road conditions may change quickly throughout the course of the day.
If travel is necessary, take the following precautions:
- Only drive a vehicle with winter tires on,
- Drive slowly,
- Top-up windshield fluid,
- Keep the gas tank topped up,
- See and be seen,
- And keep an emergency car kit with food, water, extra clothing, first aid supplies, and flashlights.
- Consider carrying sand, flares, jumper cables, antifreeze, and an emergency whistle in your trunk.
