A vehicle stolen from a residence in Port Elgin has been found vandalized and abandoned in the parking lot of a Memramcook school.
RCMP corporal Sebastien Bisson told CHMA Wednesday that a red Toyota RAV4 was reported stolen on Sunday April 27, and then discovered damaged Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the Abbey Landry school.
Bisson says a suspicious vehicle call came in to the RCMP at 6:07am on Wednesday after a newspaper delivery driver noticed the vehicle in the school parking lot, with “windows all busted and quite a bit of damage on the vehicle,” said Bisson. Police soon discovered it matched the vehicle stolen from Port Elgin on Sunday.
Bisson says the investigation is underway to find out who stole, damaged and abandoned the vehicle. The damaged Rav-4 has been towed to the RCMP’s ‘ident’ section to examine it for fingerprints or other evidence. Police are also looking for any video evidence gathered by surveillance cameras between Port Elgin and Memramcook.
“Right now, the only thing I can say is there’s no suspect,” says Bisson. “The investigation is still ongoing at the moment.”
Bisson says multiple vehicles have been stolen in the Shediac, Sackville and Port Elgin area in recent weeks, but police cannot say if those cases are connected. Bisson says in many cases the keys have been left in unlocked vehicles. He advises area residents to be vigilant and make sure to, “lock their doors at night and keep the keys inside the residence, not in the vehicle.”
Golf carts stolen from Memramcook golf course

On Saturday, April 26, thieves stole four golf carts from the Memramcook Valley Golf Club. The village of Memramcook, which owns the golf course, is calling on the community to help identify the thieves.
The village has posted surveillance video footage taken in the municipal parking lot on Saturday, April 26 at about 10:50pm. The video appears to show a dark grey pickup truck with a white trailer hooked up, and a U-Haul truck, pull into the parking lot, turn around, and back down the road towards the golf course.
The village message on Facebook says, “If you’ve seen something unusual, have surveillance cameras, or have any information, your help would be greatly appreciated.” The village requests that anyone with information call the RCMP at 506-533-5151 if they can help.
