Student Volunteer Coordinator (Closed)

CHMA is very happy to be able to offer a new position to help us build capacity to do outreach and engagement with our student programmers and Mount Allison Campus Community. We love our volunteers and we’re looking for help to get the word out about how great it is to be involved here and to also let the world know how great our volunteers are. This position is best suited to a currently Mount Allison student that is active on campus and available some weeknights and weekends. This is a part-time position and we are very accommodating to the academic calendar and the demands of student life – we strive to make our student positions flexible for a healthy work/school/life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen, and onboard volunteers; and maintain volunteer records and schedules.
  • Foster and promote a welcoming, inclusive volunteer culture.
  • Act as a liaison between volunteers and staff, supporting clear communication, feedback, and conflict resolution.
  • Organize volunteer appreciation initiatives, community-building activities (weekly drop-ins, volunteer meetings).
  • Coordinate training sessions and provide feedback to new and returning volunteers in the methods, techniques, and ethics of radio broadcasting.
  • Promoting volunteer programming on social media and within the community.
  • Maintain and update volunteer information on our website (Schedule, Show Pages).

This position pays $18 for a 5-10 hour work week. This is a hybrid position with some of your weekly activities in the CHMA Studios, but some of this work can be completely remotely. Maintaining communication through our Slack group is very important.

CHMA is committed to diversity and inclusiveness. We encourage applications from members of racialized communities, Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, and persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

You can submit an application to us at hr@chmafm.com. Please include a cover letter and resume clearly marked CHMA Host and clearly note which time slot you’re interested in. An air check would be fun and beneficial, but not necessary.

The hiring for these positions open and ongoing. Please reach out to us if you are interested in being considered, we’re always trying to expand our capacity to have more hosts.
