Amherst first responders have officially received a new Safe Approach and Rescue Vehicle, adding a new tool for emergency response in the town.

The vehicle was handed over during Police Week Celebration Day at Dickey Park, where Amherst Police and other first responders gathered with members of the community.
The Town of Amherst says the vehicle is intended to support safer responses during higher-risk calls, giving emergency personnel added protection and controlled access when responding to certain incidents.
The handover comes as municipalities continue investing in equipment meant to improve public safety and emergency preparedness.
The vehicle will be used by local first responders in situations where additional safety measures may be required.
