Amherst Police say a 29-year-old New Brunswick woman was arrested twice in less than 24 hours in connection with separate alleged theft incidents.
Police say Nellie Landry was first arrested on May 21 after officers responded to a shoplifting complaint at a Robert Angus Drive business. Officers later found her near the Amherst Industrial Park allegedly pushing a cart full of stolen items. Police say she tried to run, but was arrested.
Landry was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, resisting arrest, and breach of probation. Police also say they executed an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a previous Amherst theft charge from March.
She appeared in court on May 22 and was released. Amherst Police say she was arrested again shortly after 1 p.m. the same day, after a separate complaint that clothing had been stolen from a downtown business. She was charged with another count of theft under $5,000 and remanded into custody until May 25.
